Crockpot New England Clam Chowder

This is a very tatsty summer clam chowder!

Recipe Ingredients

4 (6 and 1/2 oz) cans of chopped clams
1/2 lb bacon, diced
1 lg yellow onion, chopped
6-8 lg potatoes, cubed
3 cups water
3 and 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
4 cups half and half or milk
3-4 Tbsp cornstarch

Recipe Steps

1- in a skillet, saute bacon and onion until golden brown, drain
2- put bacon and onions in crockpot with clams, potatoes, water, salt, and pepper, cover and cook on high 3-4 hours or until potatoes are tender
3- during last 1 hour of cooking, combine the 1 cup of half and half with the cornstarch
4- add the remaining half and half and stir well
5- finish cooking and serve hot

Additional Tips

Try serving with crab cakes or a crusty french bread.
