A party favorite!

Recipe Ingredients

3 or 4 firm-ripe to ripe avocados (about 2 lb. total)
1/4 cup lime juice
2 tablespoons minced green onion
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
1 to 2 tablespoons minced fresh jalapeño chilies
1 or 2 cloves garlic, pressed or minced
1-2 red plum tomatoes, seeded and chopped
Salt

Recipe Steps

1.    Peel, pit, and coarsely mash avocados.
2.    Add lime juice, onion, cilantro, chilies, garlic, and salt to taste,             mixing well.
3.    Refrigerate until serving. Serve in a bowl.

Additional Tips

Serve with baked tortilla chips. It’s also a great source of the carotenoid lutein which has been suggested to help maintain healthy eyes. In addition, avocados contain heart healthy mono- and polyunsaturated fats and are a good substitute for foods containing saturated fat (like cheese dips and mayonnaise-based dips)
